Sitio da Torre, Brazil - Wood St. Coffee
Wood St’s Brazilian coffees aim to show that there’s more to coffee in Brazil than big commercial estates. This one comes from Alvaro Coli’s farm Sitio da Torre in the Mantiqueria de Minas, a region where 89% are smallholders. Alvaro is the fourth generation to run the Coli farm since the family emigrated from Italy in the 19th Century and has really pushed his farm’s boundaries in terms of both cultivating and processing, resulting in 29 Cup of Excellence wins.
This lot is a classic pulped natural, a process pioneered in Brazil that involves removing the skin letting the coffee dry with almost all of the pulp still on the beans (so slightly different to natural processing where the fruit is dried in its entirety).
It’s fudgy, nutty and a little fruity; a really versatile cup for however you brew. We’ll be sending Anna home with this one to try on her Clever Dripper.
Specialty coffee roasters Wood St started life as a coffee stall in Walthamstow’s Wood Street Indoor Market and slowly evolved into a permanent neighbourhood fixture, bringing REALLY GOOD COFFEE to their corner of East London.

In 2022, Clare and Gareth Reid handed over the reins of the cafe and honed in on their roasting business, moving into a large unit in Saffron Walden, Essex to meet the growing demand for their REALLY GOOD COFFEE across the hospitality sector.
It’s in high demand for a reason: responsibly sourced, democratised coffee, carefully roasted with the core belief that anyone can brew great coffee if given the tools, knowledge and training.
