Rogelio Peña, Peru - Wood St. Coffee
A coffee from Peru with layers of sweetness and complexity: lots of berry fruitiness with a smooth vanilla body.
Rogelio Pena Huaman is a Peruvian coffee producer from the town of Nazareth de la Cumbre in Cajamarca. Rogelio works closely with his son Franklin, an agricultural technician, to experiment and develop their coffee quality. Their efforts include focusing on organic farming practices and utilising non-traditional post-harvest processing like this anaerobic washed lot.
The father-son duo are one of six young families managing Finca La Familia, a community organisation proposed by Franklin to process and sell their coffee direct and reach international buyers like Wood St's importer Khipu. The dream is for a more sustainable future for these remote coffee growing families, and to be recognised for their quality on the global stage.
Specialty coffee roasters Wood St started life as a coffee stall in Walthamstow’s Wood Street Indoor Market and slowly evolved into a permanent neighbourhood fixture, bringing REALLY GOOD COFFEE to their corner of East London.

In 2022, Clare and Gareth Reid handed over the reins of the cafe and honed in on their roasting business, moving into a large unit in Saffron Walden, Essex to meet the growing demand for their REALLY GOOD COFFEE across the hospitality sector.
It’s in high demand for a reason: responsibly sourced, democratised coffee, carefully roasted with the core belief that anyone can brew great coffee if given the tools, knowledge and training.
