Fazenda Mió is at the forefront of specialty coffee production in Brazil. The estate covers almost 2000 hectares in Monte Santo De Minas, a unique region that sits between the Cerrado and Atlantic Forest biomes. 

Alongside a data-driven programme of precision agriculture, the team at Mió are constantly experimenting with processing at their on-site milling facilities. This Mundo Novo lot underwent red honey processing: floated with water from the nearby spring then mechanically de-pulped using specialist equipment to leave around 75% of the mucilage on the seed. As the coffee beans dry, the high sugars of the sticky mucilage caramelise, producing big fruit flavour and body that’s balanced in the cup by delicate honeysuckle florals and a soft oolong finish.

The team at Cult are big Mió fans, and so are we! Their exceptional coffees are 100% traceable down to the being able to tell which truck moved the cherries from farm to mill, and their farm dedicates an equal amount of land to coffee as it does to native forest, helping to preserve the natural characteristics of the region.
