We’re loving the syrupy peach, jammy strawberries and jasmine florals in this stunning Guatemalan coffee from Huehuetenango. Yallah have built a strong relationship over the past 3 years with producer Catarina Mendez, and last year visited her farm Finca Gomez. First-generation grower Catarina explained that she began managing the farm after her husband moved to the USA to earn a better income, revealing the fact that many women farming in coffee-growing regions do so out of necessity to keep the family business running and to provide their neighbours with employment. Catarina picks her coffee by hand, then takes it for processing at the local wet mill where it is depulped, dry fermented, washed and dried. 

This coffee has been a great opportunity for Yallah to highlight not only the hard work and dedication of Catarina, but also the gender gap in coffee where around 70% of the labour is provided by women but there remains an underrepresentation of their voices in ownership and leadership.
