Elimbari, Papua New Guinea - Triple Co Roast
It’s a special time when coffee from Papua New Guinea appears on an offer list. Despite ⅔ of the population on this fertile island making their living from coffee, it’s definitely still a rarer origin for us.
Bristol roastery Triple Co have sourced these coffee beans from Kongo Coffee, a locally owned coffee export company based in the Simbu region of the New Guinea Highlands. The vast majority of coffee from PNG is grown casually around people’s homes in ‘garden farms’ and sold to local co-operatives or businesses like Kongo for central dry mill processing.
This washed lot takes its name from Elimbari, the mountain where the coffee growing slopes sit, and is clean but complex with gentle Kefir-like acidity, apricot sweetness and a hint of black tea on the finish.
Triple Co Roast is a speciality roaster in the heart of Bristol , inspired by founder Jo’s studies in California.
Their mission is to small batch roast high quality coffee beans, buy green coffee via true direct trade, and focus on having amazing roaster-to-customer relations as an open-access roastery.
This triple focus gives them their name and ensures delicious, ethical coffee and great transparency and knowledge right through to the customer.
Triple Co are also absolute whizzes with espresso machinery and really value education in coffee, so you can get the best from their product.
