Dahwe, Rwanda - Ritual Coffee
A delicious Rwandan espresso from the team at Ritual Coffee Roasters in Cheltenham. We heard mango, crème brulee and shortbread and had to have it for our next guest espresso at LOCAL- the perfect balance of tropical brightness and satisfying creaminess.
These coffee beans have been sourced from Dahwe Coffee Washing Station in the Gushagara District of Rwanda’s Southern Province. It’s Dahwe’s first season under the care of Muraho Trading Co who’ve brought with them their vision of combining specialty coffee production with community development. This year Muraho supported the 1,400 farmers the station buys cherry from by distributing 85,000 coffee seedlings and Dahwe processed 285,000kg of cherries, including naturals like this one.
Ritual Coffee are a Cheltenham specialty coffee roastery and brew bar in the heart of the Cotswolds. Courtney and Callum founded Ritual in 2019 on a basis of openness and honesty- with transparent sourcing at the very heart of all the coffees they roast.
Their coffee offering centres around relationships that Ritual return to year on year, always prioritising the work of smaller producers and farming co-operatives. All of Ritual’s coffee is roasted in their beloved 1980s roaster Sammy, with the hope of taking roasting back to its purest craft by roasting manually for full quality control.
