This complex fruit bomb of a coffee comes from Eric Roberto Landaverde, a passionate producer from Chalatenango in El Salvador. North Star are big on their lasting producer relationships, and Eric has been a contributing farmer to the Los Chelazos community blend for almost a decade. He and his family have become renowned locally for their exciting microlots, experimentation and meticulous processing and this special lot highlights the quality that lies within these communities.

All of this and more is on show in this Gesha microlot, a real rarity for the region. This lot also shows the move El Salvador’s coffee farmers are making to new, exotic varieties from their recognisable Bourbon and Pacamara. Staking a claim for El Salvador as a high-end origin that prioritises quality and innovation over high volume.

Eric’s Gesha coffee has undergone many years of refinement, and is processed at lower altitudes that offer better conditions for slow and controlled natural drying. There’s lots of Gesha elegance which manifests as rosé wine character in the final cup, but also some vibrant strawberry flavour.
