Julio Bastidas, Colombia - Cult Coffee Roasters
A really versatile and incredible quality coffee from Cult. This rich and chocolatey coffee is marked by zesty tangerine acidity making it a great option for espresso and filter brewing alike. Julio Bastidas is a third generation Colombian coffee farmer who is a member of the Cedro Alto Collective in Narino. Alongside farming, Julio has worked with other farmers in Colombia to help make exporting their coffee possible.
This natural lot is his first export from his own family farm San Isidro Labrador, which he hopes to transform into his personal coffee laboratory. Julio has experienced a number of adversities, including an attack by land pirates, to get this coffee to roasters like Cult, which just goes to show how important the work of vertically integrated collectives like Cedro Alto is.
Cult is an Edinburgh based cafe and roastery who've been promoting an ethos of fun, inclusivity and sharing from their converted vennel since 2014.
Cult's values have carried through into their roasting, sourcing high quality seasonal focused coffees to share with their community. Cult roast separate espresso and filter roast profiles to enhance the qualities of the coffees they take care to source and to optimise them for your preferred brewing method.
