Rwandan coffees are definitely coming into season and this one is a juicy, fruit-forward all-rounder of a bag from ALL CAPS. These coffee beans from Rwanda’s Western Province are bringing big blackberry flavour and a little floral on the finish, but paired with enough syrupy body to make for a very special espresso.

Husband and wife team Rutaganda Gaston and Mukantwaza Laetitia set up their family-run coffee production business in 2015 with a real focus on community. Their operations are based in Nyamasheke and Mbare where they have built two programmes to support local farmers and washing stations to process their coffee. In Mbare, the focus is on young farmers aged 18-35 who are helped to develop practical skills, an interest in coffee and their own independent production.

This natural ‘Musozi/Mountain’ lot was processed at the Mbare station in Muhanga, where cherries were hand sorted and dried on raised beds for 26-33 days then transported to Kigali for dry milling and export.
