Abebe Hailu, Ethiopia - ALL CAPS Coffee
We’re coming to the end of Ethiopian coffee season and going out with a bang. These beans are ultra clean and super expressive with notes of bright raspberry and complex lavender honey and represent everything we’ve loved about natural coffees from Ethiopia this year.
Cheshire roaster ALL CAPS have sourced this lot from Abebe Hailu, who inherited 4.5 hectares of land in Idido Kebele in the Gedeo Zone. He and his family carefully select and sort the ripest cherries which are then laid out to dry on raised beds for 15-18 days. The coffee is laid out to dry for 30 days before drymilling- a step that helps to stabilise the coffee and get it ready for export.
Chester-based ALL CAPS coffee have been supplying the North West and beyond with beans and brews since 2021. There's a reason ALL CAPS are popping up as a guest roaster up and down the UK, they pride themselves on tasty coffee backed by transparent sourcing, roasting up their carefully selected lots on a Giesen roaster, keeping the distinctive qualities of each coffee intact.
While everything we've tried from ALL CAPS has been delicious, we'd be lying if we said it wasn't the fun, psychedelic branding that pulled us in.
