Don't Feed the Ponies Figgie Daniel 2022 - Sandridge Barton

Sandridge Barton's Figgie Daniel is a lively and bright Col Fondo. Col Fondo (literally - "with the bottom") involves leaving the lees sediment inside the bottle with no disgorgement and is the OG way of making Prosecco, before it was commercialised into the sweet bubbles we know today.

This English sparkling wine, a blend of Madeleine Angevine and Pinot Blanc, is hazy, crisp and slightly acidic with elderflower and lemon rind on the nose and green apple on the palate. A perfect spring spritz.

All of Sandridge Barton's experimental Don't Feed the Ponies wines are named for one of Dartmoor's Tors, and are naturally fermented and unfiltered to show off the best of Devon's terroir.

Sandridge Barton's estate winery builds on the legacy of English wine pioneers Sharpham Wine, who established a vineyard in Devon's Dart Valley in 1981.

Since planting a new organic 450 acre estate near Stoke Gabriel, Sandridge Barton have built a state of the art winery that allows them to produce their wines with minimal intervention, sustainably blending modern and traditional techniques to express the unique terroir of South Devon.

Exciting natural English wine can be hard to find, so we love their new experimental Don't Feed The Ponies series; a range of low intervention wines named for the wild horses that roam in Dartmoor National Park.
