Château Cambon Beaujolais Nouveau 2023 - Château Cambon
It’s not just any Thursday in November, It’s Beaujolais Nouveau Day! Every year on the third Thursday of November importers race to distribute so that sales of these iconic bottles can start at midnight.
Historically, Beaujolais Nouveau was a Vin de Primeur drunk by growers to celebrate the end of the harvest season in the Beaujolais region, enjoyed young and fresh after just a few short weeks of fermentation.
This one comes from Château Cambon, part owned by natural wine and Beaujolais legend Marcel Lapierre, and is everything you’d expect of a red wine so young: vibrant fuschia-purple in colour, with big crunchy acidity and minimal tannins.
Get your hand on this super limited bottle quick and drink immediately, slightly chilled to get those fresher than fresh flavours.
Please note: All bottles will not be released until the 16th of November in accordance with Beaujolais Nouveau Day protocol.
Chateau Cambon was bought by Marcel Lapierre and Jean-Claude Chanudet back in 1995. They then did the pretty daunting job of restoring the estate- and by estate we mean a bankrupt chateau in disrepair. It’s now a working winery and vineyard, no small feat by any stretch of the imagination.
The grapes used to make their Beaujolais come from vines that used to belong to Jules Chauvet; one of the very first winemakers to promote wine production sans Sulphur and considered the father of French natural wine!
