Ad Gefrin’s ever-evolving journey towards the distillery’s first Northumbrian single malt has deepened with this limited edition Cognac finish whisky.
This special batch takes Tácnbora, Ad Gefrin’s popular blend of Irish and Scottish Whiskies, and finishes it in ex-cognac oak barrels for six months- adding richness and subtle spice to the original honeyed profile.
Bottled at 58.6% cask strength and naturally coloured, this expressive bottle offers a palate of fudge, raisins, apricots, resin and tobacco under a nose of honey, raisins, sandalwood, tobacco, clover, custard, alongside a finish of honey, gorse flowers and sawdust.

Ad Gefrin is a new Anglo Saxon heritage museum in the heart of Northumberland, showcasing archaeology and artefacts from the North East’s golden age. Because building a world-class cultural centre wasn’t enough, Ad Gefrin is also the home to a whisky distillery, and they’ve embarked on the long and laborious journey to making Northumberland’s first single malt whisky, using malting barley from local farming partners.
For now, they have released their first blended whisky, Tacnbora, and Thirlings Dry Gin to whet your appetites.
