The region of Kiambu is famed for its large coffee estates that were first established by British colonists in the early 20th century but are now managed by local Kenyan coffee companies. 

Zennor’s new coffee comes from the Kamundu Estate in Kiambu, which is operated by Sasini. Sasini’s estates are big on equity and community, providing accommodation, schooling, and above market wages to its workers and their families.

It's a bit of a rarity to see specialty natural coffees from Kenya, where traditional washed processing dominates and dry processing is associated with lower quality home processing. Here, cherries were carefully selected for this single varietal SL28 lot then dried in the sun on raised beds for up to 6 weeks for a cup that’s more candied strawberry, zingy lime and cranberry than the clean and bright profile we’re used to.
