Rwamatamu, Rwanda - Parallel Coffee
We’re seeing some really stellar coffees from Rwanda already this year, with many roasters looking to renowned producer Rwamatamu to source exceptionally fruity and high quality coffees.
This family-owned Rwandan coffee company manages two stations at Mbare and Nyamasheke in Rwanda’s Southern Province, where they have also started community initiatives that target women and young farmers. Pick of the bunch for Glasgow coffee roasters Parallel is this washed lot, Musozi, from their Mbare washing station.
Bright and zesty lemon character layered with honey sweetness and rounded out by an Assam tea body that’s rich and malty.
Scottish coffee roasters Parallel are the new kids on the block. Founders Adam, Danny and Colin have a heap of collective experience in the coffee industry and they've now decided to channel their passion into a roastery that's all about seasonality and careful, light roasting to show off the natural characteristics of each lot.
The Parallel team source small quantities of exceptional quality coffee that changes frequently with the seasons- so their coffee might not hang about but there's always something fresh brewing!
The name Parallel comes from the parallel lines that sit at 23.5 degrees either side of the equator that form the coffee belt and the importance of provenance and terror to the supply chain.
