Hundred House’s sweet and juicy Costa Rican coffee comes from Finca Monte Alto, a coffee farm in Tarrazú operated by Cafe Directo. This family business with 5 generations of coffee-growing heritage founded by father-daughter team Gerardo and Jennifer Arias who now have two farms in the region. As the name 'High Mountain' suggests, this is the higher of the two, with coffee growing up to 2000MASL. 

Cafe Directo specialise in specialty microlots like this anaerobic natural, a process that they keep a closely guarded family secret. What we do know is it’s all about picking the perfectly ripe cherries, pre-drying them before they undergo extended fermentation in plastic tanks without oxygen where they are closely monitored for both the Brix reading and aroma. From there they are left to dry on raised beds where they are meticulously turned and sorted for around 30 days and where rich flavours of cherry, chocolate and wine are really locked in.

The final cup really stands out for its thick and syrupy body, making it a delicious choice for Aeropress brewers.
