Rwandan coffee cooperative Dukundekawa is fully owned by its 1192 members and works with over 4000 producers, 80% of whom are women. The cooperative has a roastery, dry mill and four wet mills including Mbilima, where Hundred House have sourced this lot.

Mbilima was founded to reduce the journeys of farmers to Dukundekawa’s other stations and has been responsible for improving both access and quality in the region.. The almost 900 small scale farmers who contribute to the station are all fair trade and organic certified and grow their coffee between 2000 and 2220 MASL, some of the highest altitudes in Rwanda.

This honey process lot was dried with the mucilage intact for between 15 and 22 days depending on the humidity, and was carefully monitored throughout. The result is remarkably balanced and surprisingly express; syrupy sweet and zesty with a long earl grey tea finish that shines with Chemex brewing.
