Finca Bethania produces award-winning coffee beans in the Dipilto mountain range of Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua. The farm is managed by Martha Albir, whose family are deeply intertwined with the Nicaraguan coffee industry and have pushed to transform its attitude to social responsibility, sustainability and quality.

Rainforest Alliance certified Finca Bethania understands that good biodiversity is extremely important to growing good coffee, so actively conserves the surrounding forestry. Coffee grown on Finca Bethania is processed at the Albir family’s Cafetos de Segovia, where all water used in the processing of washed coffees like this one is recycled. This state of the art mill not only processes the coffee of Martha and her sister, but has also become a hub for local smallholder farmers who are offered fairer prices and access to the specialty coffee market.

After washed processing this coffee was dried first in the forest shade before being moved to sunny patios where its drying is carefully managed as this is a slightly lower altitude region. The final cup, roasted by Hundred House, is a real crowdpleaser, with roasted nut flavour and a sweet chocolatey body that is primed for stove top, espresso and french press brewing.
