Ripe and juicy strawberry, candied watermelon flavour, and a fudgy body make for a seriously moreish Colombian coffee that’s packed with layers of sweetness. This new batch from Hard Lines has been sourced from Aponte in Colombia’s Nariño region. This indigenous reserve operates separately from the Colombian government, with the Inga people here using their local pre-Colombian language and working and living in large community groups. The farms here aren’t drawn out as private property, instead the community decides how each parcel of land will be used, and the small-holdings of coffee combined into regional lots.

The area is characterised by fertile soils, a cool climate and high winds, making it ideal for producing honey-process lots like this one and the producers experts in the technique.  As some mucilage is left on the bean for drying, it’s crucial that the climate isn’t too hot or humid to ensure it doesn’t spoil or over-ferment, making for well-rounded sweetness in the final cup.
