This comforting cup comes from the women behind Café Femenino Peru, a programme supporting social justice and empowerment for women coffee producers worldwide, who now support co-operatives across the globe.

In 2003, 464 women farmers in northern Peru decided to flip the script on the male-dominated economy of coffee, separating their coffee production from the men's. Their co-operative CECANOR was the very first Cafe Femenino co-op and continues to be the standard bearer, providing their farmer with legal rights to land, financial and business decision-making power and direct payment including a Café Femenino premium.
