These sweet and jammy coffee beans have been sourced from Rugali washing station in the productive Nyamasheke district on the shores of Lake Kivu. Rugali, known as Big Daddy, is the biggest and busiest of Muraho’s Trading Co’s processing stations and also features the company’s dry mill- preparing all Lake Kivu coffee for export.

Dry mills are normally located in major cities, but bringing the dry mill within the area means Muraho can offer even more for the local community including better employment opportunities for rural workers beyond the harvest season.

Rugali has been the template for unwashed specialty coffee from Rwanda, and with coffees like this natural lot it's not hard to see why. As espresso, it gives a sticky sweet mouthfeel with tasting notes of spiced plum and butterscotch that work equally well with filter brewing.
