North Star

Before North Star, Leeds was lacking an independent roaster, despite a thriving specialty coffee scene. Founders Krag and Hols started roasting in a small unit just outside of the city, before moving the business to the Leeds’ Docks and then expanding even further into a purpose built roastery space. With the growth in the business, North Star have focused in on their passionate dedication to sustainability, both in their sourcing and roasting and in everything from the countertops to the menus at their physical locations.

The Docks site is still North Star’s main presence in the city, an airy, modern and family friendly spot in one of Leeds’s busiest new developments, conveniently located to the Royal Armouries and Discovery Centre. The Docks is home to a big brunch menu and a wide coffee menu that shows off North Star’s latest roasts (as well as its namesake blend) on espresso, batch and hand brew.

Their kiosk location is more centrally located on the banks of the River Aire, a short walk behind Leeds Train Station. This little nook is perfect for grabbing a quick takeaway coffee, breakfast on the go, or one of North Star’s house-made sandwiches.
