Abracadra Merlot - Château Beynat
This full and jammy natural style Bordeaux from Château Beynat has all the classic spicy fruit of Merlot on the nose- the magic comes as it opens up.
Deep purple in colour, this French red wine provides piles of rich cherry, plum and cocoa flavour with some fresh acidity that balances the glass perfectly giving it great drinkability (especially when gently chilled!)
Biodynamic farmed 100% Merlot underwent whole cluster fermentation before pressing, with 6 months ageing in concrete vats before being bottled without additional sulphites.
Château Beynat in the Castillon Côtes-de-Bordeaux AOC. The 100 year old estate was acquired in 2008 by Alain Tourenne, realising a childhood dream in the process.
Tourenne immediately converted the 17 hectares to organic viticulture, and made the change towards farming biodynamically in 2018.
Across the clay-limestone soils on the slopes of Saint-Magne-de-Castillon, there is a focus on Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, which the Château Beynat team tend to carefully by hand stripping and vine manipulation to ensure the grapes get optimum sunlight.
