Fruit forward with vibrant acidity and clean sweetness - Velvet Berry is an expressive coffee from Kenya with lots of character. Formative’s latest exceptional lot comes from Ngungu-ini Factory, part of Kibiriwi Farmers Cooperative Society in Kiringaya county. It’s undergone traditional fully washed processing for a cup that shows off everything Kenyan coffee is known for.

Founded in 1958 and comprising 8 factories (wet-mills),  Kibiriwi FCS is one of Kenya’s oldest and most established cooperatives. The natural combination of fertile soil, seasonal rainfall and altitude combined with Kibiriwi’s wealth of experience, knowledge and tradition is a recipe for success, and they now process the coffee of almost 7000 members across their factories.

Kenyan coffee is always a filter favourite for us that iconic dark fruit flavour brings a real sense of origin to the final cup.  We’ll be brewing this one with a Kalita but think it would be a great option for Aeropress and Clever Dripper brewers too.
