Chocolatey and sweet with a floral complexity, Exemplar’s Mexican coffee is a great option for espresso and filter drinkers alike.

Union San Pedro is made up of 8 smaller associations that represent communities around the town of San Pedro El Alto in Oaxaca. The work in this region is highly focused on increasing yields for smallholder farmers in these rural communities. The coffee industry here is in crisis, blighted by coffee rust disease and poverty that has reduced production by up to 90%. Union San Pedro coordinator Salomon Garcia worked hard to establish the group and now works full time with around 180 producers providing agricultural assistance to help them experiment with higher yielding and more disease resistant varieties.

Almost all of the coffee produced by these farmers must be blended into community lots so co-operatives like Union San Pedro are vital to the survival of coffee growing communities here. This washed coffee was hand pulped and fermented in traditional wooden tanks.
