Sidney Kibet Orange Co-Ferment, Kenya - Cult Coffee Roasters

Co-ferments can be divisive; is adding in flavours to coffee ever a good thing? When they’re as well balanced and well intentioned as this one from CULT, we think so. These Kenyan coffee beans have been co-fermented with oranges from the same farmers who supply their coffee cherries and offer a real taste of brighter days to come mellowed by some sweet florals and a chocolatey body.

Sidney Kibet’s Lot 20 Coffee is a novelty within the Kenyan coffee industry, where their attitude to transparency and community certainly isn’t the norm. This Kericho based company works with smallholder farmers and smaller local processing facilities in Kenya’s Rift Valley to innovate and organise their production; keeping the value of the coffee with the growers so it can also serve their communities.

For Lot 20, boundary-pushing advancements in specialty coffee like co-ferments are another opportunity for more value and more positive change for farmers.

Cult is an Edinburgh based cafe and roastery who've been promoting an ethos of fun, inclusivity and sharing from their converted vennel since 2014.

Cult's values have carried through into their roasting, sourcing high quality seasonal focused coffees to share with their community. Cult roast separate espresso and filter roast profiles to enhance the qualities of the coffees they take care to source and to optimise them for your preferred brewing method.
