Nola Wonga, Indonesia - Cairngorm Coffee
Nola Wonga farmers group was set up by Felix Soba to protect coffee cultivation in Bajawa, on the Indonesian island of Flores. The fertile volcanic forest region of Bajawa has been renowned for its organic Arabica coffee but growers had been converting their farming to more profitable food crops.
By providing free seedlings and support to farmers in Bajawa, Mr Soba is showing the value of growing coffee alongside other crops. The Nola Wonga project seems to be working, with an exponential increase in profits, a huge demand for work and knowledge, and connections with roasters like Cairngorm.
This washed coffee is complex, fresh and clean with a unique flavour profile of elderflower, pomelo and agave.
