Burundi’s Masanganzira mill is located in Gashoho commune, in Muyinga province. The mill is managed by Pierre, a Burundian coffee farmer who began processing his own coffee and quickly expanded to meet the needs of other local smallholders who deliver to his mill. Currently, the mill produces exceptional raised bed naturals like this one, but Pierre is constructing a washing station that can diversify his offering.

After processing the coffee is transported to Ikawa Nziza, the dry mill just a short drive away where coffee is milled and prepared for export. Ikawa Nziza is at the forefront of specialty coffee in Burundi, situated at altitude and purpose built for quality microlot coffees.

This coffee blends beans from Pierre’s own farm and other smallholders and has been expertly roasted by Big Dog to leave lots of delicate black tea and peach flavour within a full-bodied chocolatey cup.
