We’ve tried a bunch of coffee from Rwamatamu from different roasters over the years and have always been impressed.  North East roaster Baristocracy visited this family-owned Rwandan coffee company a couple of years ago, helping to build the sort of transparent trade and long term relationships with coffee growing communities that importer Omwami are all about.

It’s these buying commitments that helps producers understand the trends and flavour profiles that are a hit with consumers and gives them the confidence and security to invest in new processing facilities and methods. This lot has undergone anaerobic natural processing at Rwamatamu's station near Lake Kivu, placing coffee cherries into a sealed, sterile tub with a one way valve and allowing CO2 to displace the oxygen until the environment becomes anaerobic.

The final cup is bringing sweet peach and plum flavour with a really silky texture- a well balanced coffee that's great for fruit forward espresso or filter brewing.
