Chelbessa, Ethiopia - Missing Bean Coffee Roasters
Fresh, floral and fruity Ethiopian coffee beans roasted in Oxford by Missing Bean. Notes of jasmine, orange and a little clove spice make for a well rounded cup with a classic washed Ethiopian flavour profile.
Danche Washing station in the Gedeo Zone was established by Ethiopian exporters SNAP, and now works with around 650 smallholder farmers around the village. The coffee in Chelbessa grows in semi-forest conditions amongst shade trees and food crops, at altitudes of up to 2200MASL.
SNAP have installed tiled fermentation tanks ensuring that their coffee maintains great clarity and characteristic quality, as well as dedicated drying beds for washed and natural coffees.
Now with 6 cafés across the county, Oxford’s first independently owned coffee shop Missing Bean have been flying the flag for specialty coffee across Oxfordshire since Ori and Vicky opened their first site in 2009. Their close-knit team have found their way into coffee from all walks of life, but all share a passion for sustainably sourced coffee which they hand roast at their East Oxford roastery.
Their coffee selection spans origins across the globe, sourcing with a special focus on developing direct trade relationships with producers.
