Kateshi Anaerobic, Zambia - Hundred House Coffee

As one of Zambia’s oldest estates, Kateshi has become a model for coffee production in this smaller coffee origin. After its founding in 1972, Kateshi was the central mill for all coffee in Zambia’s Northern Province but now stands out in its own right, producing award-winning coffee while offering water, education and healthcare to surrounding communities.

This natural processed lot roasted by Hundred House features meticulously double hand-picked cherries that underwent 24 hours of anaerobic fermentation in sealed tanks before a drying period of up to 4 weeks. This lengthy drying process ensures a big hit of cherry flavour that combines perfectly with some balanced lime acidity and brown sugar body. We think this one would make a delicious Aeropress brew.

Hundred House Coffee have been roasting in the Shropshire hills since 2017. From their small rural home near the Welsh border, they’ve opened a dialogue with rural farming communities all over the world to source the best coffee as ethically as possible.

Co-founders Matthew Wade and Anabelle De Gersigny focus on careful small batch roasting backed by decades of coffee experience. The team at Hundred House’s passion for culture means their coffee also supports the creative community through outreach and collaboration.
