Leyla, Peru - Coborn Coffee

Leyla Rimarachin is an up and coming Peruvian coffee producer who farms 2 hectares in San Ignacio, Cajamarca. Finca El Alcanfor, which Leyla inherited from her parents, is big on high yield, disease resistant varieties that suit Peru’s climate perfectly. While Leyla would love to expand the farm and begin cultivating exotic varieties, her current focus is on refining post harvest processing by paying careful attention to the fermentation time of her washed coffees and experimenting with naturals.

This 100% Caturra lot was handpicked by Leyla’s family and other members of the local community and processed on site. Her washed coffees use a 30-40 hour fermentation period that results in bright and clean berry flavour that’s perfect for Clever Dripper fans.

London based micro-roastery Coborn Coffee have a loyal following of supporters who have the same respect for both their high quality coffee and responsible sourcing and roasting. Justin and Kenny founded Coborn with the aim of making unique and great tasting coffees affordable to their local communities. In the two years since their inception, they’ve managed all of this while sourcing only from female majority owned farms and co-ops in developing economies.

We got chatting to these guys at London Coffee Festival and couldn’t get enough of their fun-filled brews or ambitious ideas for the coffee industry so we’re thrilled to have them on drop.
