These new Nicaraguan coffee beans are bursting with syrupy sweet tropical fruit flavour, giving big pineapple candy in the cup. If you’re more than just a fair-weather cold-brewer this is a surefire way to squeeze the last bit of juice from the summer, but it makes for an equally delicious filter brew.

This exciting coffee, roasted by Hard Lines, comes from Hacienda Santa Luz in the mountains of Matagalpa. The farm has become a vision for sustainability since it was purchased as an abandoned estate and reestablished in 2003. Since then, all operations from research to export are conducted on site. One of Santa Luz’s main aims, driven by CEO Ricardo Herrera and GM Marco Tulio Gonzalez, is to promote high yield and disease resistant varieties like the H3 variety that makes up this lot.

H3 is a hybrid of Caturra and an Ethiopian landrace cultivar. It’s a challenging but very rewarding plant to grow, with outstanding cup quality. This lot has also undergone yeast inoculation during fermentation before washing, to really amp up that funky flavour profile.
