Speciality coffee shops in Newcastle upon Tyne
Newcastle is our hometown and as keen coffee enthusiasts, naturally we've tried most coffee shops in and around our city.
Over the past few years coffee shops are upping their game in the North East & consumers are moving away from big chain coffee shops in favour or small independents who's coffee selection is more diverse, ethically sourced & doesn't need a pint of milk & copious amounts of sugar for it to taste good - how coffee should be.
With great local roasters such as Northside Coffee, Baristocracy, Fika & many more, it's great to see our city making a name for itself within the speciality coffee industry.
As the name suggests, Estate Tea Co are specialists in tea. However that doesn't mean they don't do a banging coffee. Well worth a trip.
From the guys at Fika coffee comes Lagom. Lagom is a Swedish word meaning 'Not too little, not too much; just right' & that's exactly what they've created.
Magic Hat opened in the City Centre in 2020 & is Newcastle's first food waste cafe using food donated from independents, supermarkets, wholesalers & hospitality/retail venues that would otherwise went to waste.
Our go to city centre shop when getting on or off the train at Newcastle central. Pink Lane have been around for the past 12 years or so & are always bringing tasty, interesting & varied brews to Newcastle.
Known mainly for their bakes (as a bakery should be), Pure Knead also know their coffee inside out. Nothing worse than when a freshly baked treat is accompanied by a bad coffee - this won't happen here.
The Goat (previously The Canny Goat) is Heaton’s newest speciality coffee spot. Located on the corner of Whitefield Terrace & Warton Terrace it’s just a stones throw away from Iris Brickfield Park.
