El Cosmonauta y el viaje en el tiempo is a project from Rioja winemakers El Mozo that travels back in time using a plot planted by Gorka Mauleón's grandfather Teodoro in the 1940s. With very few artisanal producers left in the Riojan wine industry, this tribute to their heritage and their own family's hand planted vines was a very meaningful process for Gorka and his wife Itxaso, made with great care and respect to show off every grape.

All of the fruit from the Monte Viñaspre plot in Lanciego, 60% red and 40% white, was blended to discover the wine Teodoro drank all those years ago. Tempranillo, Garnacha, Viura, Malvasia and Turruntés were vinified together in a whole bunch semi-carbonic maceration with stems in a completely manual process without the introduction of additives or sulphites.

The resulting red wine has soft tannins with real crunchy blackberry and herbaceous flavour with a little earthy smoke. This unusual blend of grapes makes for a bold but fresh bottle that's much lighter than the 15% ABV would have you think.
