Burundi
Burundi, like its northern neighbour Rwanda, is fast becoming a large exporter of coffee, having faced many difficulties in the establishment of a coffee market as a result of political unrest and environmental challenges. Today, efforts towards ensuring better deals for smallholder farmers and infrastructural development means coffees from the north of the landlocked nation are preferred by many roasters, noted for the prevalence of the Bourbon varietal and their juicy acidity.
